Hello, I've been experiencing massive stuttering while playing games such as Grand Theft Auto 5, Batman: Arkham City, and Battlefield 4. The game would run smoothly for around 5 minutes then would begin to stutter. The FPS would drop down to 2-5 frames for about 5 seconds then return to normal for another 10 seconds and repeat. I updated my drivers but no luck with that. I did assume the issue was caused by internal overheating, so I purchased a cooling pad and air vacuum for the vent. Unfortunately, this did not help. However, it did solve the earlier stuttering caused by heat.

My Specs:
Model: HP Pavilion 15.6in (Star Wars Special Edition)
OS: Windows 10 64-bit Home Edition
Processor: Intel Core i7-6600U Quad Core
Graphics: Nvidia GeForce 940M 1Gb, Intel HD Graphics 520
RAM: 8gb
(Let me know if I need any more specs)

Well, both CPU and gpu are pretty weak.for modern gaming.

Cpu, although i7, is a dual core with hyperthrrading, and at low clock speeds.

Gpu is quite low end and has very little vram

Your loss of fps after a set time is probably due to heat issues. Check temps.while you game.

According to Speedfan, the idle temperatures of the laptop are here, although the temps continue to fluctuate:

Temp1: 106F
HD0: 90F
Core0: 73F
Core1: 72F
GPU: 97F

These are the temperatures while gaming in Grand Theft Auto 5:

Temp1: 149F
HD0: 93F
Core0: 126F
Core1: 127F
GPU: 118F
