SSD dead. How can I tell if it`s still working?

Samsung Evo 850 250GB /MB Asus H87-Plus.
Stuck with the boot manager missing. System restore disc doesn't do anything. Ctrl/ Alt/ delete/ won`t respond on KB so have to resort forcing PC restart.
A friend recommended using Ubuntu on a USB but have no clue how to do that.
Tried several Windows OS discs to see if SSD will boot from them but Nada!
Only options I have is to get into the BIOS an/or use a USB stick loaded with some SW that will magically bring my SSD back to life. Thanks in advance.

What your friends means by Ubuntu on a USB is installing a Linux version (he rec'd Ubuntu) and try loading OS by that.

CTRL ALT DELETE is a Windows function ; BIOS has nothing to do with Windows.

Have you tried different SATA ports/plugs and power connectors?

Otherwise I cannot verify how to check if your SSD is truly dead.

which version of windows?
do you have the windows dvd or on usb?

I have tried other SATA/ power connectors but give it another try. In the meantime I`m gonna try and burn an ISO of SystemRescueCD and see if that`ll bring some life to it.
And I had the SSD partitioned with W7 & W10. I think I might have accidently deleted the W10 part.

You don't say, is the SSD seen in the bios? If it's hooked up and not seen in the bios, it's dead.

THe BIOS sees it at least the W7 partition.

your windows installation is corrupted
reinstall windows
its not a good idea to put 2 differents version of windows on the same disck or ssd

This is my problem. I`m stuck in a boot loop. None of my OS discs will boot my damn PC. I can`t get past the missing CTRL/ALT/DEL message. Is there a way to reset the BIOS from scratch? I hoping it will see my SSD as new H/W.

I think I might have accidently deleted the W10 part.

You've probably wiped out the boot partition somehow.
So what happens if you try to boot from a Windows install disk or USB?

At that point, the SSD has nothing to do with things.

Given a good boot DVD or USB, you can boot the system with NO SSD or HDD.

And your SSD is almost certainly not 'dead'. You may have hosed up one or the other OS on it, but the physical drive is probably fine.

The ESET rescue disc has installed okay on my SSD so that means IT works. Enev managed to recover some photos. So back to work on how to recover my Windows OS

If you have the data saved, I'd just format and reinstall. The drive isn't dead, just windows corrupted. Save the photos/data, format C:\ and start over.

Well I`m using to ESET recovery CD to delete the old partitions and do another clean install from W7. Seems my neighbour has a OEM disc she is willing to lend. Fingers crossed.
