[Sorry for bad english my primary language is french] My name is Brandon Sheppard and I'm fairly new to PC Gaming. I was always a console kid because I didn't have enough money to ever get good pcs. I've now got a job and very excited to get a PC of my own. I'm looking for something good enough to run games like Mafia 3, Rise of the tomb raider, and other tripple a titles moderately good. I am not too attached to VR so I have no problem getting older graphics cards. I want to know what parts I should get, looking for something upgradable as I plan to do major upgrades in the future.

Budget: 700 CAD (I can go up to 800, but I preferably not)

Solution
This is the best you can get for around $7-800CAD, and it will be able to play AAA games, but you will be limited to medium settings to get 60fps. If you needed to go a little cheaper, i would say step down to a i3 6300.

Dont forget an O.S and maybe a disk drive. Didnt want to go over 700 for your sake but this might be the best i can do, intel is the best and nvidia but amd has better overclocking in my opinion, however if you plan on overclockig get a good cooler becaus eamd rigs run quite hot and the rx 470 should future proof your build
