Possible problem with WD Green HDD?

Hello,

I have an issue in gaming that I can only imagine is related to my WD Green disk. In most games, from time to time my game will freeze for a second or so when trying to play some sounds. This doesn't happen with all sounds, and will only happen trying to play some specific sounds. As an example, for CS:GO it would be the round end VO clip, for other games there are other specific sounds that aren't used all the time (this never happens with sounds that are very common). This led me to believe that the issue could be with my disk, specifically with games trying to load certain sound files that weren't pre-loaded. I then remembered my HDD where I store games is a WD20EZRX, notorious for head parking. Since I'm not very savvy in those topics, I'm not even sure if those two facts can be related to each other and I'm really confused. If it could actually be the problem, is there any way to disable head parking without using wdidle3.exe? Or at least any other ways around this issue?

Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, it's not recommended to use the wdidle3.exe software when the particular drive model is not listed in these KB articles from our website:

The WD Green HDD is a great secondary storage solution for your massive data, however, it might not be able to deliver the desired performance while gaming. We usually have the WD Black HDD for that. Since your WD drive is an older Green model, it incorporates the feature IntelliPower that is a fine-tuned balance of spin speed, transfer rate & caching algorithms. This basically makes the HDD power-efficient and lowers the power consumption.

What other drives you have in your system? If...

I didn't use wdidle3.exe yet, I was thinking there could be a better and easier solution to this problem, but I guess not? I'm only really interested in fixing the stuttering as it's very annoying for gaming.

What other drives you have in your system? If you have an SSD or a 7,200 RPM drive, I'd advise you to transfer your games there. It might actually help you with the stuttering and load times.

Thank you very much for your response. I was aware that WD Green drives aren't optimal for gaming but wanted to save me a bit of cash, I guess that was a wrong decision :) I'm going to move my most used games to my SSD, thanks for the advice.
