Solution
Try this

for windows 7 and below, click on start, then right click on Computer/My Computer and then go to Manage. Then go to Disk Management. Does it show up there? if so does it show as RAW or Healthy? It might just not be getting a Drive letter for an odd reason

for Windows 8 and up, right click on the Start Menu and then Disk Management.

let us know what it is reporting on the drive if it is seeing it at all in disk management.
Hi there Praz1620,

That is really unpleasant. :(

Is this an external or internal drive?

Sometimes, I/O (input/output) error could be related to the connection. So, no matter if the drive is external/internal, it may be a good idea to attach it with different cable/s. As drtweak suggested, you can even try it on another computer.

In case the issue persists and the data stored on the drive is really important, you will need to contact a data recovery company: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=k1KMlG

Apart from all this, keep in mind that initialization is a data destructive process. So, in similar cases, you should always try to access the drive with some data recovery tool. Unfortunately, in your case, it seems that you will not be able to due to the I/O error.

Let us know in case you have some more questions,
D_Know_WD :)

Thank u D_Know_W 4 d suggestion ,
Its an external drive & i ve tried it with another pc .. D main problm im facing z 'it z bein detected bt nt showin up d drive folder in 'my comp' ....

Have you tried using a different USB cable?

Yeah, it's not showing as it is showing as not initialized.

In case you've tried that and the issue persists, you will need to look for some professional help if the data is really important.
Alternatively, if you don't really need the data and if the drive is under warranty, you can contact the place you got it from or our Support and RMA it: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=DaCSGV

Cheers,
