When i try to install the 372.70 notebook update for my 940m it gives the error: "The NVIDIA graphics driver is not compatible with this version of windows. The graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware."

I have windows 10 with win ver 1607. Pretty sure the os is up to date.

I have also tried to download geforce experience, and it also gives an error when it trys to install.

How can this be fixed?

Solution
You should probably go here. Select Display and Video Graphic from the "Component" dropdown and download the NVidia VGA Driver for Windows 10 (64-bit) - Notebook version 10.18.13.5474.

If you're downloading the drivers from NVidia, that is the problem. Laptop graphics are often tweaked to keep them within specific power and thermal requirements for a given laptop. Drivers direct from NVidia do not have these limitations coded into them. Your computer is saying you cannot install these drivers as they are harmful to your computer.

If you are downloading the drivers from the laptop manufacturer (as you should be), then there are other issues involved and we would need to know the model number of your laptop.
