I am looking to build my first gaming PC, and i was wondering which of these two CPU would be better:
3.1ghz quad-core or 3.6ghz dual-core?
The two i am looking at are the same price so its just deciding which one. I do not want the pc for demanding AAA games, the PC is merely so i can experience pc gaming.

Which exact CPU's? Ghz is meaningless on its own

However for modern gaming you want at least 4 threads. A dual core i3 6100 has hyperthreading so it actually has 4 threads and does exceptionally well in games for its price. However a true 4 core like the 6500 or 6600 are better and will last longer. I wouldn't buy a dual core pentium or any AMD CPU's right now for a gaming PC.

ok. Sorry, im not too good when it comes to this, as this will be my first gaming PC. Thanks for helping me out. I'm not planning on spending too much money, so do you have any suggestions on a CPU at a lowish price? Maybe around $80 USD, because the ones im looking at may not be too good. It would be very helpful, thanks.
The two i was looking at are the
AMD A8-7600 Kaveri Quad-Core 3.1 GHz
and the
AMD A6-5400K 3.6GHz Dual Core
