Need help with figuring out compatible upgrade for my graphics card with my Gateway computer?

Hello everybody.

I would like to explore my options with my upgrading my current PC a Gateway DX4380G-UW308 for gaming purposes would like to be able to run games such OverWatch and Street Fighter V on medium settings at the minimum. I can not have a gaming pc built until next year so I would like to upgrade what is currently available to me.

I recently had been gifted a Nvidia GTX 660 graphics card would like to know if my current desktop is compatible with it. My computer's model is the current processor is a AMD A6-5400K APU... . And it is 64 bit with 6 gigs of RAM. I do already know to make use of the graphics card assuming it is compatible that additionally I will have to install a case fan and higher power supply.

The big question from me is the GTX 660 graphics card compatible with my desktop in the first place? If not is there an alternate GPU that I could invest in for my desktop that could be suited for my needs?

The card is compatible, but I doubt the stock PSU is big enough to handle it. It would need to be at least 430W with 1 x 6pin PCIe connector. Look at the PSU's nameplate and let us know the total wattage and (more importantly) the ratings for the +12v rail(s).

That is a relief and that makes sense. My stock wattage is only 300w 12pin so certainly not capable of the job.

I was planning on upgrading the PSU to this model.....

How does the +12 Rails check out? Would this be able of supplying me with the power that I would need for the card and letting me install an extra fan safely?

It doesn't have to be a "Gateway" PSU, in fact that one is a FSP-Group brand. Any ATX PSU will be fine. But yes, that one has the necessary specs to run the GTX 660.

The 430W minimum on the PSU took into consideration the rest of the system as well. So any good quality PSU 430W or greater would be OK.

As to the 12 pin connector, you may have a problem. All modern retail PSUs come with the standard 20+4 pin connector for the motherboard. Your last picture isn't working. But measure the center to center distance between mounting holes diagonally. If it is ~ 5 13/16", it takes a std. 120mm fan.
