Will an R7 240 4gb gpu run well with an athlon ii x4 630 2.8ghz processor?

asus m4a78lt-me mobo
4gb ram (I think the motherboard can only detect 8, but planned on upgrading to 8 gigs)
amd athlon ii x4 630 2.8ghz processor
current gpu radeon hd5450 :(
600w power supply


Games played
Insurgency, Rocket League, BF:BC2

Was told that a gtx 750 ti superclocked would be my best bet/buy. But im kind of impatient and saw that a store close by has an r7 240 for 80$ and would like to know if its worth it if im there....

Yes, that will be fine. The aging Athlon II X4 will even handle faster cards than the R7-240 w/o being a bottleneck.
But I'd increase the system memory to 8GB if the board accepts it. The more VRAM a gfx card has, the larger the buffer the OS sets aside from its system memory.
