Just installed Samsung 950 PRO in the PCIex16_5 slot on Asus X99 Deluxe II. This slot does not share lanes with any of the other ones, so should be getting full speed (6850K, 16GB RAM, BIOS up-to-date, the latest Samsung driver installed for the 950).

Sadly, especially random reads are slower than they could be.

First off, I know that you're supposed to make threads = 4 in CrystalDisk, but even then:

So that random read is still only 66% of the supposed max of 300K IOPS.

In fact, the 950 is slower than my 850 Evo in Rapid Mode:

What am I missing? Thanks for your help!

Hey there, scando.

Try the drive with a different PCIe port if you have one (again one that does not share lanes if possible). It would be even better if you could give it a go with a different computer as well, just to compare speeds. Other than that, I'd check if there's an available firmware update for the SSD if I were you. Try updating or resetting your BIOS/UEFI, to see if the same thing happens again.

Hope that helps. Please let me know how it goes.
