Im running windows 7. Last week i woke up & computer was off. Im guessing due to a windows update overnight. When i tried to turn my computer on, it was stuck in an endless loading loop & would not fully boot up. Pretty sure i dont have a virus as i dont download or travel to unknown webpages on this computer. Has anyone experienced this problem & has had it solved? Any help would be greatly appreciated! I tried to load in safe mode & i only get up to : "loaded: \windows\system32\drivers\disk.sys" then it reboots. Is this driver bad? If so how do i repair?

This sounds like a Boot Manager issue. Your Boot Manager is what loads you into Windows, so any issues booting into Windows is almost always tied to the Boot Manager.

There's only two options available with a corrupted or damaged Boot Manager. The first is to run Startup Repair. This will attempt to repair your Boot Manager so you can load into Windows. Do this first. If the damage is beyond repair, the only other option is to re-install the OS which will completely replace the Boot Manager with a new one. Unfortunately, this will also wipe your computer clean of all other data.

Since we still don't know the cause, you need to back up your system in case it happens again. Either a snapshot tool (i.e. RollBack Rx, Comodo Time Machine) or a disk imager (i.e. Macrium Reflect) will help you back up your data in the event that this happens again.

If you need to re-install the OS and you don't have discs you will just want to download the ISO from the Microsoft website.

My copy of Windows is..... Im just going to buy another license & do a fresh install. Luckily all my data is not on the same drive as the os. If the current os is not working is it possible to install a fresh os?

Ok. I have a new copy of windows 7 & fresh license key. I try to boot from disc drive & i get the same loop happening. Is there anyway to install this new os on the drive or is my drive dead? When i load in safe mode it stops @: loaded: \windows\system32\drivers\disk.sys". Is that my computer telling me the drive is dead?

Yes it says press any key to boit from disk. I do & it loads files then restarts. The first time i loaded disk i got to the windows logo, but it stayed on that logo for 15min so i restarted

I would try removing the cmos battery for a couple of minutes to clear the BIOS and restore defaults. Then set it to boot from cd again. Also disconnect any other drives when you install windows. Make sure sata cable is firmly connected to hard drive. Maybe you have a bad or loose sata cable?

Did you try a different sata cable? How many hard drives do you have? Try another hard drive to see if the cd setup works. If that also doesn't work try a different sata port.

If that doesn't work you may have a corrupted bios due to your unknown shutdown. Windows updates usually just restarts a computer.

You could try updating your bios.

I have 2 hard drives. One is the original which has the os & the other is used for storage. I would use other drive to install but i would lose all my data. How would i download & install a new bios if i cannot access the system? (have never done before) also can i just choose the other drive to see if setup will go through & just quit before it starts?

Yes you can quit setup.
Another thing I should have mentioned, is use the hard drive with your os and boot from the windows cd.
Instead of installing choose repair this pc and try some of the repair options like restore or repair startup.
