PSU only has one dedicated PCIE slot... and I need to power a GTX 970...

I bought a set for a build for my dads computer for his birthday and I made a list of the parts here so I can save time:

I had a GTX 970 spare since I upgraded to a 1080 a while back and felt like if he's gonna have a pc to last him for a good while, this should be the PC to do it.

However, the PSU (which was bought in one of the bundles on newegg) has a weird setup for a modular PSU. It has the normal features (24 power, 4+4 cpu power) and then it has 1 pcie (8 pin) connector and then peripherals (6 pin).

My 970 needs 2 x 6 pin connectors, I can use the 8 pin connector on the PSU no problem, but what are my options here to make it work?

Pic of PSU for reference from newegg

are you sure it is the 650w model?? they may have sent the wrong model. been there myself and know how it makes you think your going nuts but every spec sheet i see says it has 2 x 6+2 pin connections. it is probably only a single cable with both on it but it should have one included. newegg should fix that problem for you.

they are really good at problem solving like this and will probably send the cable ut real fast for you.

No, its just not the cleanest power, and wont allow you to hit extremely high overclocks, if you were on water or ln2 or something. You also shouldn't use this with a really power hungry card, but the 970 is not powerful enough for that to be a concern.

that psu should have 2 x 6+2 pcie connections, so it should easily power the 970. even if both 6+2 connections are on the same cable, they will still give plenty of power to the card. no worry there.

look closer because the needed connections should be there assuming the psu you linked is the right one. 650w rosewill arc series

It's funny you say that, but it actually does not (and I've emptied the box, looked everywhere for the second one, it actually only comes with one. :/

That's not going to be a concern, as far as ocing since that won't be happening with the card.

I've never used molex til now so my understanding is plug it into the 6 pin on the card then use one molex to the cables from the psu's molex (only 1 connection on the coverter, not both right?)

i would contact newegg then. because the specs say it should have 2 and for 650w it can easily handle 2.

contact them and they may send you the missing cable. they are good about that kind of stuff and rosewill is their house brand so they want folks happy with the brand :)

I may do that, however the thing is once again the PSU doesn't have a place to put the cable, I just went downstairs to double check that I'm not on cocaine and imagining I'm missing the port to connect the cable, sadly I'm not hallucinating.

I have 3 six pin slots, one of which is powering my sata ports, a red port for the 8 pin pcie which I do have the cable for, and the non-modular cables are only for the CPU + Power.

Ah did not mean to have problem as solved! But, yes it does say 650m :/ so I'm double confused, I have the cable for that one 8 pin, which is a 6+2 power connector...

I'm gonna contact them anyway just to see what's up.

EDIT: Wait... Holy S*IT as you said it has two connections guess what I just saw attached to it....

So wait I can plug 2 6pins into this with an 8 pin... or would that blow it up ;-;

So figured I'd give a small update, it's working and no issues what so ever! :)
