So, I just ordered my Gigabyte G1 Gaming RX 480 4gb and was wondering, if I only have a 6 pin, and the card requires 8 pin PCI-E, will I be able to draw enough power? If I won't be able to, please tell me a quick solution, if that involves getting just a 2 pin cable, or just purchasing an 8 pin. I also have the Corsair CX600 power supply if that is needed to know how much power draw I will have. Thanks!

My current graphics card, the Radeon HD 6950, it uses two 6 pin connectors, will I be able to use one full 6 pin, and just plug in part of the other 6 pin, or will that not work as well?

Thank you for your help, but I may have just realized that connected to my 6 pin PCI-E, there is a separate 2 pin, that may be the fix to this. It is a 6 pin with yellow cable going up to it, and kind of connected in the sleeve, there is another 2 pin. Do you think this is the fix?

That is not a 'fix', it is simply how it is meant to be used in the first place: instead of having separate 6-pin and 8-pin connectors, many PSU manufacturers have a 6-pin with detachable extra two pins (6+2) so the same connector can be used in both cases.

That's the same thing as the 24 pins ATX connector where many PSUs have a 20+4 connector to accommodate older boards with only a 20 pins connector by detaching the extra 3.3/5/12V/GND 4-pin block from the main connector.

I know of no "CM600" Corsair PSU. I know of the CX600, and I think there is a CS600 as well. Both of those would have the 6+2 pin plugs that you spoke of. It's not an adapter, or a hack. Like Invalid said, it's how they were meant to be used. Just plug the 6+2pin plug into the RX 480 and you should be good to go.
