as of now i have an ssd that im not going to use for until my pc build parts is bought until christmas, do you think it would be a good idea to store my laptop hdd and use my ssd for my laptop while i have the chance and when i can use it for my new pc, can i replace it again with my laptop hdd again and format the ssd? would it change the performance of the ssd or make any difference, what do you think?

Hey there, anony57.

You should be able to use it with your laptop either by cloning your current HDD or by making a fresh installation of Windows. When you get your parts for the new build you can simply connect it and use the Windows installation media to reformat it and make a fresh installation. The performance of the SSD should not be affected in any way.
Basically you could give it a go now to see how it feels to have your OS running off of an SSD, but then again, there's not much time left for you to wait, so you could simply wait for a bit longer and start using it with your build. :)

Hope that helps.
