Asus H81M Gamer Compatible with i7 4790k?

I want to buy a i7 4790k but I am not to sure if it will work or run well with my motherboard, heres a link to it https://www.asus.com/uk/Motherboards/H81GAMER/ .

It appears 0505 is the newest bios, when I clicked on the 4790k in their cpu support list that's the version they recommend despite saying supported since bios 0208. 0505 came out in 2015 so it should be fine. Some h81 boards had older bios versions that didn't offer full support for the haswell refresh and devil's canyon cpu's which is why I mentioned checking it. You should be fine.

Had to look at their listing for it since the numbers don't really reveal much on their own as far as which one was newer. Other brands/models use different names for their bios versions that generally include the date they were released and makes it easier to tell at a glance which is which.

Make sure to update the bios to the latest version. Depending which version you're currently running it may or may not work properly, the h81 boards came out before the 4790k. The latest bios should fully support it. You'll probably need your current cpu to perform the bios update so if you're planning to sell off your old cpu don't forget to do the update first.

According to asus the bios version needs to be 0208 for the 4790k. If you already have this bios version it should be fine. They explain how to use aisuite to take advantage of ezupdate here.
