Hey community,

I'm looking for a PSU to replace my faulty for a few days. Currently I have a Corsair HX850 gold, but it seems to be causing my computer to randomly hang or shut down, especially when under heavy load (ie. gaming). It's still under warranty, but it'll be a week or so until I can get it replaced.

Other specs:
GTX 970
Asrock Z77 Extreme4
Intel I5-3570k
16GB ram

Thanks.

Solution
You can try borrowing one from a friend; and it wouldn't need to be 850 watts; a 500-650 watt unit with 2x 6+2 or 2x 6 pin pciex connectors will work for the short duration, depending upon card model and brand.
Another option: Once you have the RMA from Corsair, work with tech or customer support and have them cross-ship your new PSU. You will have to give them a credit card as you basically buy the new psu, but the purchase is not completed as long as you return your defective unit to them within a specific time period. I think I had ten days when I did this. By doing this you should have a new PSU within a few days (assuming you are in the United States or near one of their warranty centers).
