I have an AMD Radeon HD5500 graphics card and I can't seem to install the proper drivers. This is what it says:

"no amd graphics driver is installed, or the amd driver is not functioning properly. please install hte amd driver appropriate for your amd hardware"

Things I have tried:

-I have tried removing the drivers before installing a new one by using Guru3D - DDU in safemode and by using the add/remove programs in the control panel. I've also removed the programs installed in C: where the other drivers were 'extracted/installed' before reinstalling the latest driver for the graphics card.

-I would also like to add that I have updated Windows since I have seen some posts that pointed at some updates were required to make the driver installation fully functional.

-I have also tried using the sfc/scannow in CMD in administrator mode and it didn't detect any problems.

-The graphics card is not detected in DxDiag but detected in Device Manager as AMD Radeon Hd 5500 but it has a yellow sign with an exclamation point.

-Removing Windows update KB3004394

-Setting in bios that PCI-E is the main display

-Installing the display driver only when installing the driver.

-I have tried installing the Catalyst Software Suite 15.7.1, 15.11.1 and Radeon Software Crimson Edition Beta 16.2.1

-I used AMD autodetectutility to confirm it is AMD Radeon HD5500 Series

-I turned OFF the Digital signature by using the "Bcdedit.exe /set nointegritychecks ON" command in cmd

PC Details:

CPU: Intel Pentium E5300 @ 2.60GHz
Mobo: MSI: Boston
RAM: DDR2 2GBytes (2pcs) Total of 4GBytes

DirectX Version: DirectX 11
.NetFramework: 4.6
OS: W7 Ultimate 64bit

Do you know what else to do? I am stumped. Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

I just added this detail. Thank you for the reminder. But It still failed.

If the problem is a legacy hardware compatibility issue, how would I truly know it is a compatibility issue or not? I tried searching online for its compatibility but I can't seem to find an answer. But what I found out was it's minimum requirements:

Minimum requirements are:
• Motherboard with one PCIe ×16 lane graphics slot.
• AMD Athlon™ or Intel® Pentium® 4 CPU.
• 1 GB RAM.
• CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive for installing software.
• A 350 watt or better power supply.
• Certified power supplies are strongly recommended; for a list of certified
power supplies, see ati.amd.com/certifiedpsu.

W/c I believe I fully complied.

"no amd graphics driver is installed, or the amd driver is not functioning properly. - I have the same message, strange wonder if there's something going on with AMD Drivers. it's as if the drivers on the website are for the wrong cards.

Windows can also be the problem, you should disable windows updates before using Guru3D, I managed to switch from the Radeon graphic card to the motherboard graphic card, set that as the primary card during boot up.
then install clean drivers, if you got a DVD Disk might be best as the Drivers from the website might be causing the problem.

How did the problem start, is this a new card your putting in or did it come with the pc ?

and Was it working before you updated it ?

Thank you for the suggestions, but I have Windows updates on never check for updates, if that is what you mean by disabling it. I am unable to use the onboard graphics card since I believe it has become faulty through the years. No, I do not have any CD ROM or DVD Reader nor the DISK for the installation of the drivers, I actually just borrowed it from a friend who said he was able to use the graphics card with no issue.

So I have to say this is a 'new' install on my unit. I used to have an NVIDIA GT630 but it failed on me, My PC won't even boot or pass POST if I slotted my NVIDIA GT630, no LED ACTIVITY. But I believe that is for another post?

My gear is about 8-9 yrs old I think. Excluding the new CMOS battery that I installed and my PSU 700w has been with me for 5 years.

Thank you.

I have tried cleaning the unit, cleaning off all the dusts, using an eraser on the copper plated pins on the gpu and the ram slots. Re-seating all the hardware.

Still the problem persists.

Is there any solution to this?

Thank you.
