Here is a photo of whats been happening: https://postimg.org/image/4s1zuph83/
So... i have an fx 6300 that stock is 3.5ghz and boosts to 3.8ghz and i have an rx 480. The green line is the temp and the black line is the load in the picture. Why is it doing this? is the gpu getting bottlenecked or is something just plaininly wrong with it? i also have a 600psu and my mobo is ga-78lmt-s2 and i have 8 gigs of ram. I played h1z1 in this picture on ultra and the fps was anyweher from 30-80. Also ive tried the add picture option but it just becomes invisible so its a link.

The graphs look normal to me and temps are fine. My gtx 970 doesn't go past 50C* usually but it has the ACX 2.0 aftermarket cooler.

I've been using the fx 6300 for...

I've been using the fx 6300 for about a year now. It bottlenecks like crazy. Especially since you are using a newer card the RX 480. You just aren't going to get the most out of your gpu with that cpu. I even have my fx 6300 Oc'ed to 4.5ghz stable 24/7. You shouldn't be playing games on ULTRA like at all. I would say medium settings at 1920x1080 resolution will be your best smooth gameplay experience. You're asking way too much out of your hardware for that level of graphics. Your mobo is really bad for OC'ing too, so you are pretty much stuck because of that piece of hardware alone. I think you thought that buying a GPU would solve all of your fps problems when in reality it is much more important to get a good MOBO/CPU combo and then build from there. I would suggest in the future that you get a mother board meant for OC'ing and possibly INTEL so you can get like an i5-6600k or i7-6700k.

I bought this off of cuberpowerpc never having a real gaming desktop before and all I knew was you need a good gpu. MY fx 6300 boosts to 3.8ghz and is stable but you think using amd overdrive I will be able to overclock it even with stock cooler since it doesn't get hot at all yet? That whole computer cost me 680 so hats why I bought it thinking it was a good deal.

I would suggest using http://www.overclock.net/t/1348623/amd-bulldozer-and-piledriver-overclocking-guide-asus-motherboard

instead of amd overdrive. This guide shows you how to OC your cpu using your bios, which is what you actually want to do. It also lists all of the options that you want to tweak.

Also why does the cpu go up and down if it's trying to keep up with the rx 480? Shouldn't it be a pretty constant load instead of going from like 50-70% and back n stuff? I'll also try he link you sent soon.

That is just how cpu's work. You generally don't want your cpu sitting at 100% usage, because that means it is truly bottle necked. A cpu is constantly figuring small operations out as well as complex ones. So if the need for the cpu just isn't there then then % is going to be lower. If more things are going on with whatever you are doing, then the % usage can raise instantly. You can see this by just leaving HW monitor running and moving your mouse around or loading a youtube video for example.

As far as the GPU. There should be a way to keep it at 100% performance. I know for a fact that on the NVIDIA control panel if you select "Prefer Maximum Performance" under the power tab, then my usage stays at 100% for any 3D application including youtube. This means that until I've exited whatever 3D application I am currently using, my maximum Core and Memory clocks that I have set will stay at just that. I'm not sure if Wattman or something has this for the rx 480, but there may be an option for it some where. I found this unnecessary in the end though, because it was always my fx 6300 holding me back and not my gtx 970. I've seen the usage for my gpu reach 100% multiple times with the setting on optimal power alone.

Okay I've done some research on my mobo and it seems that it's really fuking shit for overclocking. I tried to oc myself still at I got to 3.8 but after a min test on prime 95 computer froze. So now I'm back at stock 3.5 and turbo 3.8. One last question. U know how turbo works because why did my computer freeze at 3.8 oc but when turbo is at 3.8 it a ok?

Yes you don't want to use those defaults on the front of your MOBO bios page. You want to go to where your cpu and ram settings are. Turn it either to XMP mode or MANUAL and set it up using that first link I gave you. Just turning on the Turbo is going to OC everything on it's own and you only want to be messing with your CPU and that is it. And I really wouldn't recommend OC'ing as you just pointed out how your board isn't good for it with low power phases and heat syncs. But if you want to it shouldn't be too difficult as I would imagine you can keep your fx 6300 at 3.8ghz without raising the voltage. You want to go to where your CPU multiplier is. It should be 17.5 on default. Change this value to 19. So that will be 19 x 200 = 3.8ghz.

Under your DIGI power control panel in BIOS still. There should be some options like this:

Cool'n'Quiet - Always Enabled will lower frequency of Cores under load.
Recommend - Always Disabled - or Always Enabled once your Overclock is fine tuned.
C1E - Enhanced Halt State. Lowers Power Consumption - Recommend - Disabled while testing Overclock (Enabled - Once fine tuned)
SVM - Virtual Machine - Recommend - Disabled unless running Virtual Machines
Core C6 State - Effects Overclock. Recommend - Disabled
HPC Mode - Recommended - Enabled - Prevents Throttling when Socket Temp gets high. (In some cases it may cause freezing - if this occurs its recommended to disable)
Amp Master Mode - Disabled - (Set to Auto once Overclock is fine tuned)

I would recommend disabling all of these, so you have no chance of your CPU throttling. YES DISABLE all of them, as this has been updated since this was written, but it's still a great guide for OC'ing AMD chips.

But in the end it wouldn't hurt to click that link I gave you and just go through each of the options they have there. It should be very similar to what you have and each option has the general idea of what you want to set it to.
