Hello Eeveryone I am currently trying to decide between the above two cards. I have the chance to buy a used R9 only about 5 months old or a new 1060 for approx the same price. Everything seems so close with gpu boss showing gaming and graphics rated higher for r9. Looking for some outside input.

Thanks.

The GTX 1060 Gaming would be the better option between these two cards but being honest there isnt that much of a noticeable difference. The main difference is the huge power consumption jump from the 1060's 125w to the 390x's 321w.

Overall the 1060 Gaming X would be the better card to go for.

they would be pretty close in performance really with the 1060 being a but stronger. a 1060 6 gb is roughly a gtx 980 in performance. and a 980 is a little better than the 390x.

personally i'd grab the newer tech card and go for the 1060 simply due to the MUCH lower power needs and much cooler operation.
