I was played left for dead 2, while i stepped out to get a glass of water i heard a loud pop coming from my PC and it shut down everything . The PC did not want to power on , so i borrowed another psu from a friend and it turned on with no problem everything was working . what a relief. my question is , did the psu pop because the temps where high over 40 ambient , or was it requiring more power ?
Here is my Build

i7 6700k 4.0ghz
Hyper 212 evo CPU cooler
Asus z170-e
16 gb ram g-skill
Nvidia GTX 760 2gb
EVGA 500 W 80 +

Solution

Get a G2 or GS 550W , don't bother with the 500w or 600w variants , they are all poor.

Either of these would be better choices for PSU replacement if you could afford them/ find them in your area:
