I recently got a television as a second monitor for my computer. I tested its HDMI ports with my PS3, and it outputted just fine, 1080p, good color... normal.
I want to also use it as a second monitor for my computer, since the TV has two HDMI ports. However, something strange happens when I try to use it...

When I plug an HDMI cable in the back of the card, after a couple of seconds, it stops outputting to the primary monitor (through DVI). And, nothing shows up on the TV. I've tried swapping cables, but the issue stands - the PS3 connects with all of the cables, and the PC with none of them.

So, my questions are as follows:
1) Can I set my computer to NOT shut off my DVI output automatically every time an HDMI is plugged in? If so, how?
2) How can I make something show up on the TV?

Please post your full specs.

A GTX 970 should be capable of running dual monitors using DVI & HDMI.

If you attach to the TV only - via HDMI, do you get a display upon boot?

I assume this setup worked just fine when you were only using the monitor (DVI)?

CPU - i5 4690
Motherboard - Gigabyte H87
RAM - 16 GB DDR3
PSU - 600w

I do NOT get a boot upon using just HDMI, and when I use the HDMI on my original monitor, it displays pure blue for a moment as it says no signal - which is abnormal for it, since it is usually black otherwise. It outputs easily through DVI and it used to output just fine through HDMI, too.
