I use dvi-I to vga adaptor for my crt monitors and seems fine and dandy , works well ??

just stay with in its specs all around
now cant say if you use a dvi-D to vga active adaptor what the converting of the adaptor will do ?? if that's what you got going
its a weak link if not quality part I would assume as you got to rely on added hardware between the card and the monitor
