Hi everyone. I have a primitive campground(no electricity) and am interested in setting up security cameras(Arlo Pro) on the campground. My problem is that I will need to hook up a base station to a router that can communicate with the cameras. Would a Hotspot work? Otherwise another option is that I have a house about 2 miles away from the campground that has wifi. is there some way I can extend the wifi? If so, what hardware is needed? THank you for your help!

right now I have cellular trail cameras. but i want to add more cameras and it will get too expensive, so I wanted to change direction and go the route of motion sensor cams like the arlo system so i have pictures and video on demand and these cameras also let you hear and talk to ppl or sound an alarm

Two miles away- you are out of WiFi range. You will need a internet connection and router to be able to access them remotely, so you will have to put in a modem (probably DSL or wireless, maybe satellite) and a router. Then you just have to plug the base station into the router.

Not so fast!!

If you have line of sight 2 miles is nothing for a point to point link, use Ubiquity point to points well over this distance.

Reliable power sources are still the crucial requirement.

Is the plan to regularly go out and replace/swap batteries in battery powered devices of any sort?

Maybe campsite solar panels for power along with storage batteries when sunlight is not available. Probably need to be high up and otherwise secured to prevent theft and vandalism.

Yes. I'm thinking using car batteries. Inverters. Solar panels. I'm thinking of possibly going the route of a hotspot with Ethernet input, then using the Arlo pro wireless system.
