Hi there kapil2512,

As you get a SMART fail, then you should replace your drive.

As for the drive you are about to get, then I believe you should look for 2.5' one. (9.5 mm I believe. Yet, it would be nice idea to double check that)

As a rep, I can really comment only on WD drives. If you want to, you can take a look at WD Blue and WD Black:
WD Blue - a good everyday computing drive: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=ymUnlz
WD Black - performance oriented, premium product: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=zObS2Q

With the information you've given (none) about your system the only thing anyone can tell you is to get a new HD. Please tell the forum what specs your computer has. If it's a store bought computer give the model number, if you built it tell us what components you used including what kind of hard drive you have including the manufacturer, is it an HHD or an SSD or a hybrid. You should also give the error code and describe the error.

Hi there kapil2512,

The first thing you should really do is to back up the data stored on the drive, as it could fail at any time.
After that, you can test the drive with a tool that can provide a SMART report, take a screenshot of it, upload it to an image hosting website and post the link over here. Here's a thread with testing tools: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/282651-32-best-diagnostic-testing-utility

Most probably, you will need to replace the drive. If it is under warranty, you can just RMA it.

As instyne said, it would be a good idea to provide more information on your system's specs.

Cheers,
