I am currently using a Seagate 2TB SSHD and I plan on eventually getting a 500GB SSD. What I want to know is if I can transfer my OS and primary files & a few games to the SSD, turning it into my primary drive? If so, how would i go about doing this?

Solution
Samsung has a nice ssd migration tool.
It will copy your "C" drive to one of their ssd's.
In the event that your new ssd will not hold the entire content of your current 2tb sshd, you can selectively exclude folders from the transfer, and they will still be readable when you reattach the 2tb drive.
If you do not have room to migrate apps such as games, they will need to be reinstalled. I understand that steam has a procedure to handle this, but I am no expert there.
Download the pdf manual of the Samsung ssd migration tool for details.

I don't have the SSD yet, and it's unlikely I will for several months, as I'm planning on getting a new GPU and another monitor, then rebuilding in a different case, then I'll be looking at getting an SSD. This thread was just to see if I could migrate, which it seems I can, and how. Thanks, though!

Awesome, good to know, as the SSD I was looking at was a Samsung model (850 evo, 500GB to be exact).
