i'm using a imac as my main pc and ive got a laptop without windows on it,i've got the iso downloaded on my mac desktop now.But i don't know what to do with it afterwords? do i place it on the hard drive and run it? there is currently nothing on the hard drive.Do i need anything else on their or only a iso image?

If you have a disk drive on both the imac and laptop then just burn the iso (installation media) to a dvd.
Steps to burn an iso to DVD on an imac:
- Open the “Disk Utility” app, it’s located in /Applications/Utilities/
- Pull down the File menu and select ‘Open Disk Image’
- Navigate to the ISO image file that you want burned and click “OK”
- Insert a Blank Disk (CD or DVD, use the appropriate disk as necessary depending on the ISO file size)
- Click ‘Burn’ and wait until the image has finished burning to the disc
