Hi guys my CPU is i7 4790K with 16 PCi lanes and the MB is -> http://www.asrock.com/mb/intel/fatal1ty%20z97x%20killer/
can i run 3 x GTX 1070 in 8 x 4 x 4 pci lanes for rendering in 3ds max NOOT SLI FOR GAMING
I saw this clip -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zGAPtaEVfY and some others with 3 and 4 way sli but i dont know if their motherboards have PLX chip which helps for this purpouse. 10x in advance !

Solution
Without any impact no but shouldn't have much of an impact on PCIe 3.0 4X. PCIe 2.0 8x doesn't effect the titan in tests so the bandwidth should be enough. PCI lanes are still overkill for what is required.

Microsoft is creating multi gpu dx12 that can sli 2 1060's without issue so there is plenty of bandwidth. The 1070's have more RAM so that will offset added bandwidth costs.

System RAM limits could do more to hold up rendering.

the 1070 and 1080 are very simmilar no one knows why (in rendering)
for rendering is different i dont ask about SLI gaming
for rendering you can put 3 or 4 1070 1080 and it works without SLI !
i whant to know just if my i7 4790k with the motherboard from the link will it handle with 3 x GPUs just with 16 lanes from the CPU

I had red a lot and understand that it will work, in pci 4x the speed of uploading the textures will be millyseconds down... but it doesnt matter because the speed of rendering in octane will be the same. 10x all !! ill pick the last comment for solution because it was closer ! : )))
