Just as @Luminary mentioned, you can use it to check your drives' health, but you can't protect your computer from virus and malware threats. For this you'll need an antivirus program and/or antimalware one as well.
As for checking drives' health it's always recommended that you use the specific drive manufacturer's diagnostic tool instead of 3rd party programs. You can find some options here: https://www.lifewire.com/free-hard-drive-testing-programs-2626183.

And one other thing, if you think there might be something wrong with either of your drives, the first thing you should do (even before testing) is to backup your most important data, just to be on the safe side.
