Considering the requirements alone for PD14 (you could run that software on a tablet) and the fact that the m2000 is a lowly 75w, for what it does and can do, as long as you have the monitors for it (it only has DisplayPort connections) then go for it.

..but encoding and pre-rendering are accelerated by using the NVENC on the GPU. The CPU will render much slower unless it's a very powerful one. The software itself could run on an old Android, the rendering and encoding are a different story.

Op didn't ask about cpu, so I'm assuming its comfortable for his usage. He did ask about gpu, so I'm assuming its either not performing, broke or he's tired of using the igpu. Either way, the m2000 is decent for an average build, the m4000 geared more towards top-end builds pushing an i7 or Xeon etc.

I have a custom built dedicated PC for Video & Photo,Intel core i7-3930k CPU@320ghz,32 gig of installed RAM,64 bit operating system running Windows 10 PRO & 6 terabits of HD to store Video on and a solid state HD for OS and the Video card I have now is a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560ti, the Video I generally shoot is SPORTS quite a bit of Football and mostly Hockey,I use Power Director 14 ultimate soon to upgrade to 15, I add slow motion replays to all the sports that I shoot and special effects, the PC just slows down at time and can't keep up with some of the things I ask it to do and on several occasions when i'm Rendering a Video it takes forever or just plain locks up ! When I talked to Nivida the said That the card I'm using is a low end Gamming card and I need more of a Grapics card for what I'm trying to do! I'm no rocket scientist and know little or nothing about VIDEO CARDS I just need some advice on the Graphics card I'm looking at (M2000) is it overkill or will it help ? thanks for any advice.

The m2000 has 2x the Cuda of the 560ti, and 4x times the ram. The m4000 has better bandwidth and 4x the Cuda of the 560ti and 8x the ram. I wouldn't say the m2000 would be overkill as you are suffering now, the m4000 might be overkill, but it falls into line with the capabilities of the rest of your system.

Not overkill, and with that system it'd be good to have a Quadro card not a gaming one yes, and you are definitely thinking in the right direction with the M2000. Your CPU is a very good workstation CPU, and with the ton of RAM and SSD it'd be ideal for high end video rendering. Whether you need to spend that much on a GPU is your decision, but it certainly fits your build/requirements perfectly.

Ok, thanks so much for the input ! Decision time ,I think I'm favoring the M2000 (BETTER PRICE) vs the M4000 almost $300 more but its more in line with what I have as a custom built PC that I already spent a bunch of money on ,With the type of work I do will I be able to take advantage of the 4000's capability's let alone I only have a 650 watt Power Supply <is there a way of telling how much my power supply is drawing wattage wise ? Decisions, decisions, decisions !!!!!!

You won't need an m4000 really. That is probably overkill for a Quadro. The m2000 only states a 75w requirement so 650 will be enough, but am guessing that hex core CPU takes up a lot too. Use Partpicker to get an estimate of your systems power requirements, or look in HWMonitor but 650w would probably be fine with the M4000 never mind the M2000.

The m2000 is a 75w standalone card, no extra power connector is needed. The m4000 is a 120w card, a single 6pin is needed. A good 650w usually has 2x 6+2 and 2x 6pin connectors. You could power 3x m4000 gpus and not break a sweat.

The advantage of the m4000 over the m2000 is speed, pure and simple. If it takes 3 seconds for a video frame to fully show clear now, the m2000 will do it in 2 seconds, the m4000 in 1 second.
