I'm trying to play rise of the tomb raider at near maxed out settings, and my fps is constantly around 30 fps and it even dips into the 10-20 fps range which is ridiculous. I am playing at 1440p 144Hz. afterburner shows both cards being near maxed out on usage. Can someone please help? This has been really frustrating, I even reinstalled windows 10 to see if that would get rid of the problem, but sadly it is still there.

Here is something to look check in your setting:

"One very important point you need to be aware of for CrossFire and SLI users is the "Exclusive Fullscreen" check box. In order for CrossFire to work this must be selected. When selected, this will increase performance with SLI. For us, it increased SLI performance by 20%. "

If that setting is correct...and looking at the performance they got in SLI:

Make sure the game is fully patched, they had to update their testing info a few times due to performance increasing patches.

I forgot to mention that this is happening with a majority of my games. Single card is performing better than SLI. Before it was SLI that was working perfectly. Ever since my PC crashed playing gta 5 this happened.

Are your cards operating a full speed? What PSU do you have? When you say the computer "crashed" what exactly happened?

There are a few possibilities, could be a driver issue, but it could also be a PSU issue. If the PSU is weak, the cards wont run right as they will be under voltage. When running just a single card, the power is no longer divided.

yeah they are being used at their near fullest. I have a corsair RM750 80 PLUS Gold power supply. I have been using it 2 years now without any issues. as far as drivers go, I am running the latest driver from Nvidia. How much voltage should the cards be running at full operation? your saying they might not be getting enough voltage?

From a quick search, the minimum commonly suggested PSU for SLI 980ti's is 850w - 1000w, For those overclocking I saw it suggested 1000w - 1250w. You were probably Ok for a while, but as the PSU aged, it has likely weakened and can't keep up any longer.

Here is one example:

As for drivers, you could try older ones and see if that helps.

windows 10 dx 12 isn't optimized as of yet that's why you're not getting the frame rates you're looking for , 1 of the reasons I didn't upgrade to w 10 I stayed on w 8.1 and my frame rates are over a 100 fps on rise of the tomb raider
