I''ve been wondering if i can push my CPU a little farther to 4.6/8ghz range without reaching 1.3v. Right now its running at 4.4ghz on 1.225v with idle temp around 38-42c and load max at 72-76c. I ran prime95 and aida64 and both are stable around 74c each. I've read that temps on these chips go up to 105, but ill have my PC on 24/7 and would like to keep it around 85-90c. Thanks for the help!

My pc specs -
i5 3350k
z77x-up5 TH-CF
hyper evo 212
XFX pro-series 850w
corsair Vengeance 2x4 sticks

First off 8ghz is unrealistic. 4.7 is much more realistic and a possibility to go up to in speed, but based upon that motherboard and how it is aging please read below first.

So this is what CompuTronix has said about temps.
Standard Ambient = 22C
Tcase (CPU temp) = 67C
CPU / Core offset + 5C
Tjunction (Core temp) = 72C
Tj Max (Throttle temp) = 105C ...

You're already running about the hottest you want to go at 72C I would say. I feel like going up to a constant 80-90C isn't a great idea. In the end I feel as though the gain you would receive from getting a couple more 100mhz would not justify the thermals or the actual impact it would have on gaming, or whatever you're using it for.

You'd be surprised what some people think they can OC to, but yes you can wait for someone else's opinion. Just gave you my own on what I thought.
