Hey everyone! Id like to just copy-paste the chat i had the the coolermaster support about their keyboard and my problem..

There is it:
Me:Hello there... So i got a QuickFire XT for a year now. since the last October something strange happened, basically it was all fine and good i went into a job trip for 2 weeks... When i got back home my keyboard was acting weird. Like some keys won't be registered.. I need to press them again the only way i found to fix that was to pressing them multiple times very rapidly and then they would keep working for a minute or two. My warrantly is off cause i assumed that was a problem with some dirt inside and i opened it up, yes i did a big mistake can't RMA anymore. Still i didn't damaged it in any possible way.. Im just wondering if there is any resolution to this problem and if so i could get a procedure? Im sorry for my english not native language. Thanks again for your reply

Michiel (18/10/2016, 08:45:28): Hi **** *******,
Please give me a moment to study your question.
Michiel (18/10/2016, 08:46:50): We are sorry to hear this problem.
Michiel (18/10/2016, 08:47:19): Unfortunately has your keyboard become faulty when certain keys no longer work properly.
Me (18/10/2016, 08:48:09): Yeah, i realized that.. Im wondering what would be a fix for that. a switch replacment? a re-weld of the whole backplate?
Me (18/10/2016, 08:49:07): im down to do anything, actually i already re-welded all the backplate looking for maybe some contact problem but it's all fine and it works same as before so im wondering if you are aware of any possible way to fix that, preventing me from buying a new one.
Michiel (18/10/2016, 08:49:24): Well probably there is something wrong with the switches or the PCB inside the keyboard is damaged.
Michiel (18/10/2016, 08:49:35): We unfortunately don't have a fix for that sorry
Me (18/10/2016, 08:50:58): I just don't get how that happened, i've been looking online and the only post i found was a guy that stated he uses his keyboard 24/7 and after leaving it for a week without using it, that same thing happened. If you have any explanation to the problem i'll be fine with that.. Just to know and prevent. i can assure you no one touched it... it was on the desk covered with a pan all the 2 weeks long
Michiel (18/10/2016, 08:51:49): Well we don't know the cause of this problem, how this could happened.
Me (18/10/2016, 08:52:13): Alright, i'll just give up on that then. Thanks for you help and have a great day!
Michiel (18/10/2016, 08:52:19): And unfortunately do you have open the keyboard and can we not help with a RMA.
Me (18/10/2016, 08:52:28): Sorry for wasting your time, honestly.
Michiel (18/10/2016, 08:52:42): Next time if something is faulty contact us first before opening a product, we can then help you with a replacement covered by warranty
Michiel (18/10/2016, 08:52:45): No problem sir

the problem with the keys appear to be random, then it fixes up a bit in the summer days and come back with other keys having the same problem in winter. I don't get it, that should not be related to wheater. Im wondering if someone just throwed a Voodo magic at me.

TL;DR

Basically i hardcore gamed on the keyboard for 6 months then i went into a 2 weeks jobtrip and it just stopped working propely.

honestly, the way you describe the behavior could be a seasonal thing. there could be microfractures in the solder joints that are fine while warm and swelled with the heat from a warmer room, but pull apart when they shrink when its cold. while reading this, i was thinking "has it always been on and then turned off for those 2 weeks for the first time in a while?" the sudden cooling could have caused the fractures to form.

this is all speculation ofcourse, and would certainly be a spectacularly unlucky chance.

does it improve when you leave it on for awhile? try turning up the heat in the room? i dont want to advocate tearing it apart and causing more damage until you've decided its a lost cause and are going to replace it. then as a last ditch effort, i would try to reflow the contacts on the pcb for those keys if you can.

That's what i thought aswell, but before trying to re-weld every switch i've tried other solutions.. Like opening it up and warming it with a hair-drier(LUL) and but no luck so far.. So i don't really get how i could solve that. i've also tried it on other computers and with another usb cable still the same problems.

I can't really warm up the room cause for economical issues i can't afford to, but i think the hair-drier thing should work the same... The only thing i didn't tried to do yet was the re-weld the USB contact to the Keyboard PCB...

Let's be honest if i did had economical problem i would just buy a new and a better one. But at the moment the only way i have is to fix that up..

Yeah, i've seen those too. I know how to replace a switch the problem is the keys not fuction in the correct way are random. i'd have to change basically all the keyboard letter keys. To buy those would cost me like a new keyboard plus the risk of doing it to the whole board
