I personally use a RAID setup of 3TB drives as they tend to be the most cost effective.
In the US you can get four or five 2TB Hitachi Ultrastars or Barracudas for a great price, probably the best priced option.
10TB single drives aren't worth it unless you're doing enterprise level storage, it is more cost effective to go with an option like that listed above.
LTT actually released a great video just today detailing (indirectly) current HDD methods of storage and what the future methods may entail. Quite relevant in your case and definitely worth a watch.
