bought a cheap Radeon R5 340x off ebay, downloaded AMD drivers, plugged card into PCI, changed BIOS to PCIx16 as priority display adaptor and................. nothing. Cant see the card in device manager, AMD system checker doesnt find a card installed.

Power is getting to the card as the fan is on.
ummmm, has anyone got any ideas? thanks

Solution
ehhh it's possible it's broken, if device manager doesn't see it at all, even if the fan spins.

It being OEM makes it suspicious how they acquired it, because it means they pulled it out of another system.

Contact the seller and say it doesnt work and you want a replacement or refund.

yes dvi cable is attached. any chance it could be a power issue? i dont know what my PSU is rated at so might not be enough for the GPU? its only a little card so seems unlikely, power is getting to fan so suggests its ok

You downloaded the drivers, but did you install them?
Does device manager have nothing listed under Display Adapaters?
The problem may be that it's an OEM only card, so only companies like Dell should have access to it.
It's unlikely you don't have enough power to run it, it only requires 65Ws coming out of the PCIE slot.

AMD drivers were installed yes. That said, shouldnt there be a control centre like catalyst or something? i just have an installer that completes and then disappears.

Display adapters shows onboard graphics only. Good point about it being OEM, but surely theres a way round it?
