I am in need of a SSD, i currently have a 1TB S-ATAIII 6.0Gb/s 7,200 RPM HHD which is keeping back my computer performance. I'm not to bothered about the price but would like one that can run my OS and has space to run most games/ browser. My current HHD is at 500gb used, the main thing i am not sure about is how i am able to transfer the stuff i wont from one to the other, especially as i want the OS on the SSD.
PC Specs:
CPU: Intel Core i7 4790K @ 4.5Ghz
CPU COOLER: Corsair H100i Water Cooled
MOBO: Asus Maximus VII Ranger
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 4GB
RAM: Crucial Ballistix 8GB DDR3
PSU: Corsair 750W
OS: Windows 10, 64bit
Any help or suggestion would be much appreciated.

Which drive did you get? The one I linked above?
If so, you're good on the space requirements.

See this for specific steps...

That would then be a 500GB drive with some left over.

2 options: Clean install on the SSD or clone from the old drive to the SSD

1. Clean install
Always works, more hassle.
You then need to reinstall all your applications, drivers, etc.

2. Cloning
Usually works. When it does, easy. If the operation fails, you then fall back to option 1.
You would need to reduce your current used space to about 400GB or so.

Stuff you might find on google or elsewhere might say:
Install Foo
Run it
Click
Done

It's a few more steps than that. Easy, but easy to screw it up as well.

So...get the SSD.
Reduce your current used space.
Then we can proceed.

If so, you're good on the space requirements.

See this for specific steps:
----------------------------------
Download and install Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration, if a Samsung SSD)
Power off
Disconnect ALL drives except the current C and the new SSD
Power up
Run the Macrium Reflect (or Samsung Data Migration)
Select ALL the partitions on the existing C drive
Click the 'Clone' button
Wait until it is done
When it finishes, power off
Disconnect ALL drives except for the new SSD
Swap the SATA cables around so that the new drive is connected to the same SATA port as the old drive
Power up, and verify the BIOS boot order
If good, continue the power up

It should boot from the new drive, just like the old drive.
Maybe reboot a time or two, just to make sure.

If it works, and it should, all is good.

Later, reconnect the old drive and wipe as necessary.
Delete the original boot partitions, here:

Ok first OMG SSD's are so fast, now as u can tell it's all installed and working no problems thank you for the clear instructions and all the help. One thing after i erased the hard drive i now cannot find it in my computer, was this meant to happen or did i do something wrong? I follow the instruction on the windows help link you provided and now can't see the hard drive in my computer so i can't store documents and suck on it.

I also need some assistance on the temperatures of my CPU and GPU, i can start a new thread if you like or if your fine with helping me with this issue that would be much appreciated.

For your HDD, it just may need a new partition.
Does it appear in Disk Management? If so, what options does it give you wneh you right click on that space in the bottom section of the window?

For your temps, start a new thread.

(and glad you like the SSD. You'll never go back)

'New Simple Volume' is what you want.
Then format, and give it a drive letter.

It will then appear in 'This PC'
