Tiny plastic piece snapped off Fatal1ty Motherboard z170 gaming k4

Hello, thanks so much in advance! This is my first build. I shamefully, in my excitement snapped off a tiny piece from my motherboard! I am very disappointed in myself for this.

Currently, I can't reach the BIOS screen, but the computer turns on then off then back on and just stays on. Lights and fans all running. I am going through troubleshooting and don't believe it is the cause of this small piece, but I am wondering if this piece that fell off is essential enough that I should return the motherboard and not try to finish the build.

Don't panic! That is called a jumper and is supposed to be removable. It allows you to set options on the motherboard. Let me look at the pics and get back in a minute.

look at page 22 and 23 of your manual, I am guessing that jumper came off the BIOS selection area. It is the area labeled # 18 on your first pic. If it is missing the jumper then that's the culprit and would definitely stop you booting to BIOS (it doesn't know which one to use).

as he said just a jumper,fro one of the spots below.
just pop it back on where one is missing & keep it to the left/middle orientation.

Sounds like that's solved.
Just make sure the system is powered off and the power lead has been removed for about a minuet before putting the little jumper back where it belongs.
And use tweezers.

Sorry was looking at the manual for the K6 version of that board, not the K4.
madmatt30 circled the locations in your pic for you. In your manual it is page 17 and 18.

The online PDF for the K4 has the jumper information on pages 19&20:

Whatever the page is, it's section 2.5. Jumpers setup. As madmatt30 posted, looks like the jumper should connect the first 2 pins counting from the left hand side to use the default bios. Connecting the 2nd and 3rd pins enables the backup bios.
