I have $1200 to spend. A friend wants to sell me his old gaming rig all but the graphics card for $500. It includes a water cooled 3770K, 16GB DDR3 RAM, 3x 1TB HDD's in RAID 0, a Corsair 650TX V2 power supply, ASRock Z77 Extreme4 motherboard, and an original NZXT Phantom white case. The graphics card he had in it was a GTX 1070. It comes with windows 10 pro already installed. I think if I buy that and a GTX 1080 I'll be all set.

Right now I basically just have a system with an Athlon II X4 and GTX 460. So It's definitely time for an upgrade.

Are there any better options out there for me? I want to play games on my new 4K TV. That's why I want the GTX 1080.

Since you want to get a 1080, then yea that isn't a horrible way to go about it, given your budget, and wanting to play @ 4k. I would consider getting an SSD, for your OS, and then ditching the raid 0. You will get better performance that way. You could either leave the drives separate, for storage, or maybe do a raid 5 solution.
