Hi
I was looking at a used i7 6700k available on cex. Price is very good, just £220 but I am not sure if it is good idea or not, because it is one of the latest model and why someone has sold it for low price at cex.

What you giys think, is it safe to buy used cpu or not. Cex uk does have a return policy, so I can return within 30 days if cpu is faulty. Should I take the plunge or fork out another £100 for brand new.
Any help please.
Thanks

That's suspiciously low, in the US most used CPUs are only a few dollars cheaper than their new counterparts. I suppose if there's a return policy you might as well try it, it could be that someone bought several, kept the best overclocker, and is selling the rest.

Ecky this company cex(webuy.com) has several shops, they are like pawn brokers and they have usually one or two in each shop.

Multipack, I was refferring to 30 day return policy if it is faulty. I did not know about a one year policy, thanks for that. So I should get one as the price for new is going up. Should I do the stress test, once I get it or is it good enough if it is working?
Thanks for quick response.

Some people will buy a bunch of I7-6700K processors and test them for overclock potential.
They will keep the best and market the lesser chips.

As to functioning, I would not worry. Intel themselves will honor their 3 year warranty regardless of where you bought it.

Yeah would be a good idea to stress it, but you have a year for it to fail so no rush.. and like geofelt said, Intel are very good with returns anyway.
