I am looking for a hard drive adapter to connect a Toshiba DT01ACA200 SATA 6.0 Gb/s hard drive to my laptop. I am doing this b/c I screwed myself over when I was trying to uninstall and reinstall the usb ports on my desktop in order to fix them. Now I can't use my desktop. I've never used one of these adapters before, so if anyone would be kind enough to post a link or two, I would be very grateful.

Hello everyone. I just wanted to give you an update. I got my USB ports working again. It seems there was some kind of fail-safe in the system that automatically re-installs some of the drivers. I left my PC on for about half an hour. When I came back the ports were working again. On the bright side, ALL of the USB ports work now.

Thank you for your suggestions though :)
If you only need it short term, that adapter should work fine. I may add it to my list of adapters. If you're going to use the hard drive long term plugged in to your laptop, I'd look at a drive enclosure so you're not using a bare drive constantly out in the open.

This is 2.5in enclosure, if your hard drive is of "desktop" style, look for 3.5in box (it should come with its own power adapter, too).

It's not an enclosure, its a cable adapter. While the OPs drive is a 3.5 desktop, since its a cable it doesn't matter the size of the drive. The only issue is the power required to push the drive, but the cable "should" come with a power adapter.
