I want a laptop I can use both for school and programming, with a budget of around 1,000$. What laptop should I get? At first I didn't want a mac, but it's what suits me best now that I want to do some web development. Thanks!

For the $1000 limit, you're looking at the 13in Macbook Air as your best option for a new laptop.

If you can go a couple of hundred over the $1000 limit, it'll get you in to a Macbook Pro 13in. More powerful CPU, better storage options. But not as much ram right off and not as good wifi, not as good battery life and the graphics are last gen compared to the current gen of the Air.

If you can, hold off till next month. The Macbook Pro lineup is due for a refresh to current generation specs and rumors point to the end of this month. That will bring up the CPU to at least skylake if not kabylake CPU, so better all around performance and likely an increase to base RAM size.

Also since you're in school, look at EDU discounts. Students can usually shave a hundred or so off the price with student purchase programs. Both Apple, and most schools, offer some kind of program.

Thanks a lot, I'll definetely wait till the new Macbooks are released. About the discounts, since I'm only in high school in Quebec, I suppose the discounts don't apply?

If you're still looking for a Macbook, take a look at the current models. They just refreshed the lineup.
