Is there something wrong with my setup?

Hi all, i have some questions that i hope someone can answer

Here is my setup
CPU: I5 3570K s1155 @4.2GHz with CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Evo
GPU: GTX 970 inno3d Herculez 4GB (X2 Version) factory settings
Motherboard: z75 Pro3 s1155
RAM: 2x Kingston HyperX 4GB 1600MHz DDR3
HDD: WD Caviar GP/1TB SATA 3 64mb (+4 years old)
PSU: Corsair CXV2 500W ATX12V2.3 80+
Playing in 1920x1080 Ultra settings DX11

Okay, so the problem is that in Battlefield 1 multiplayer my FPS is dropping to about 40-55 (sometimes even 30) on some parts of the map when there is happening alot (Lot's of smoke, explosion and details). On average it's staying on somewhere close to 65. Lowering the settings doesn't feel to help that much, and i feel that if everyone else can play with ultra 60fps i should be able to do that aswell.

Whenever i look on youtube someone else playing BF1 on the same maps and with the same GPU, their FPS never goes under 60, usually playing with 75 on average or even more like in this video?
example: youtube video

I'm starting to think my 970 is starting to get outdated or then there's something wrong with my setup or with something i have done. The guy on the video has the exact same nvidia drivers as me, 373.06.

Here some numbers what is going on when i'm playing BF1 multiplayer

Here are some of my probably dumb explanations why this is happening;
- I haven't cleaned the insides of my PC for a year
- I OCd my CPU just by raising the GHz from 3.4 to 4.2, did nothing else.
- I possibly could have installed the CPU Fan little better.

So what went wrong? Do i need to upgrade, or is there something i'm missing? If there is any questions please ask, thank you in advance

Try re-installing your drivers. In the last 3 weeks I had the same issue. My FPS in games like Dota 2 and No Man's Sky dropped drastically. I tried a couple things like lower resolution, adjusting settings, etc.

Decided to re-install drivers and FPS returned to normal. Happened again over the weekend and I did not even attempt to adjust the settings. I immediately re-installed my drivers and my FPS returned to normal again. I am still not sure what caused this.

what do you mean by CPU utilisation? do you mean the amount of work it's doing as a percentage like in the pictures? 100% most of the time.

Yes, just the Nvidia drivers.

But if you compare the pictures i put up there and the video i linked, the guy in the video is getting 90 fps with his same CPU and GPU. Could he have overclocked that much more that it gave him a 30 fps boost compared to mine?

Well, make sure that your CPU is definitely sitting at 100% most of the time. He cannot gain 30FPS from a CPU overclock. There has to be something else happening here.

Also, check your GPU utilizations. From the screenshots it appears like your GPU is not at 100%.

But first re-install the drivers, you have nothing to lose.

Lastly, double check the setting that the guy in the video is using. Simply adjusting something like VSync can sometimes have a massive impact on your FPS.

I reinstalled the drivers by downloading and installing the same driver that i already have from Nvidia's website, and I don't feel it changed anything.

I played the game again and the GPU usage was everything between 70 to 97%. CPU usage was 98-100% all of the time. This youtube guy has the exact same 4.2ghz on his i5 3570k but much lower temperatures, and higher clock on his 970, could this explain the difference?

I also rechecked he was running the same settings on the game and they were 100% identical

5 or even 10 FPS difference can be down to different GPU models and higher clock. 30 FPS difference is not normal and cannot be because of different GPU models and a higher clock.

I would try a slightly older version of the driver just to be sure.

What temps are you getting on your CPU and GPU?

I'm getting 80c on the GPU and 72 on CPU, i also noticed that i get drops on the GPU usage to even 60
