overclocked an fx-6300 , it failed in the latest version of prime95 in just 1 min stress test (blend) = BSOD, so i reset the pc and tried to run heavy games like witcher 3, rise of the tomb raider = got stable and no crashes..... so weird tho because it's suppose to be upside down right?

Solution

excessive bsod crashes can have os corruption but its rather unlikely. what i meant by failure is just annoying bsod. otherwise we all bsod over and over again initially trying to find the sweet spot for a stable overclock.

Estimable
This is because the Latest Prime95 Versions provide unrealistic benchmarks, which you will not reach in any stressful moment, like gaming. I think it is version 26.5 or below that is the last somewhat realistic bench marking.

This is probably the reason you had a BSOD, because it provides unrealistic results and stresses it more than anything else would in most cases.

Being your testing a 6 core I would caution again going by game tests. Is there programs you use like hand brake or others? Ideally prime95 should run a full loop. Most OC threads require 3 minutes of prime95 to ensure reasonable stable operation. If your only gaming tho you should be ok. If you want to fix the OC you may need to up the voltage by a little bit at a time till you get 3 minutes. Watch your temps tho the cpu may need a reduced OC.

@nikoli707 bro after playing for 5 hours my game crashed hahaha! i lowered the oc by 100mhz and its stable again....

you are right tho, if unstable at prime, it will eventually fail at games but for a longer period like - 5 hours

@Zerk2012 bro im just at 4ghz hehe that's the max that this $55 cheap shit board allows me ( still saving up for a better mobo and card tho), now im at 3.9ghz because of the that latest BSOD

@nikoli thanks for the tip bro i got my os corrupted already at least 3 times because of unstable oc, so i reverted back to windows 7 and disabled pci bus mastering and hdd write cache = stable but the trade off is slow windows loading (just the loading part)
