Hi,
I have cable gateway SBG6580. My first android box has no problems being hard wired to it. 2nd android box at other end of house has poor wifi. Smartphone has no issue. I read the boxs' wifi is basically useless for streaming, poor internal components. So I want to use the Ethernet port. So whats preferred way to get an ethernet plug in bedroom, w/out running cat 5 cable under house?
Powerline adapters, wifi extender or repeater that has eth port on it, etc?
According to netgear app on phone. Wifi has 100% signal @ 70 Mbps next to gateway, but 60% @ 30 Mbps. Id be happy with 30! But speedtest app on tv box gets around 2! Ergo the reason I believe ethernet will be better; poor wifi chipset. Appreciate suggestions!

A pair of AV1200 or AV2000 (TP-Link TL-PA8010P for example) powerline adapters will do a better job than wireless. Repeaters are useless most of the time, much better to use an access point, which also would require a pair of powerline adapters since you cannot run an Ethernet cable.

Thanks for the info! Ill start with these. Curious though. Do I "need" av1200, or anything over 300 Mbps transfer rate, since my ISP is only 50-70 Mbps?? Maybe the 300 or 500 would be just as good transfer, and on the wallet?

You need AV1200 or higher because, just like wireless they only get about 20-25% of their marketed speed. I get at least 200Mbps on the 8010P set on any circuits at my house or others that I have set up. I often saw 20Mbps on those rated at 500-600Mbps.
