I'm planning on building this pc:

Case: Sharkoon VG5-W Rood
CPU: intel i5 6600k
GPU: Gigabyte gtx 1060 g1
Motherboard: Asrock z170 extreme 4
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws 4 16gb 2400mhz
SSD: Crucial MX300 275gb
Power supply: Corsair CX550M
CPU coller: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO

Is this compatible and could you please give me some recommendations if needed.

alright thanks for giving me time.

the corsair cxm 100 series are a bad.
these are the the cxm 500 600 700 and 750 , and are labeled green and are known as the builder series , they are really bad

corsair got so many complainment they made a new series called the (ending on 50w ) cx450m cx550m and cx650m.
and are labeled grey and black
its a new unit and really stable. http://www.corsair.com/en/cx-series-cx550m-550-watt-80-plus-bronze-certified-modular-atx-psu-na

theyre so new there isnt a review on yet, but experts like turkey scratch and s71blackbird have recommanded them on several threads and are great units.
it features a 5 year warranty(same as the seasonic s12ii), a 12v rail, semi modular. and according to experts i...

the cx550m is build on a newer board and is ebtter quality than the s12ii and semi modular.

let's not over exaggerate here. it's an OK PSU and is not likely to blow up.

Are you kidding? The CX unit tested shut down under heat. That's an immediate disqualification for use in a gaming system. I'm not even gonna get into the build quality comparison.

It even warns you in the review...not recommended for enthusiast builds and if you use it, you need to be careful about temperature.

P.S. What exactly did I exaggerate?

Interesting. I was gonna say, that CX review is only a year old. OK, I'll reserve judgement until more info is out, though Corsair used the same part number series on both the old and "new" units (CP-9020102-NA vs. CP-9020061-NA). That normally indicates the same platform .

i didn't say you exaggerated. i just see people over exaggerating about PSUs all the time. like if it's not a 80+ titanium rated then it is total garbage and a liability to your life kind of thing. even the end of that jonnyguru review for the 750M he says that its a decent unit that has excellent ripple suppression and voltage regulation. it just doesnt like *extreme* heat.

another note: it also didnt shut down because it failed. it shut down to protect itself which isnt necessarily a horrible thing.

youre deadwrong on this and underestimating it.

In and of itself, overtemp protection is good, but, that CX unit shut down at 42C, and was starting to exhibit odd behavior at 30. That is not extreme heat.

For reference, the S12II is rated up to 50C . It went up to 51C in the hot box test and didn't even lose performance...it was actually more efficient than in the cold tests.
