Hi all,
Currently having an issue with a HP M401 printer we have where it is losing its Static IP/Gateway/Subnet/DNS when it runs out of paper (Its really stumped me because i dont get how the two are even remotely connected). The past 2-3 times i have just input the IP etc. again and its began working again but this time it just wont reconnect to the network.
As a work around i have it connected via USB to the nearest PC and then shared onto the network through that machine.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

See if you can update the firmware to fix it, it should work over USB. If you can't get that working, it may be cheaper to get a USB to network external printer connection, they are very cheap used and would be a lot cheaper than replacing the printer or getting a new board to try.

It was a clash on the network, we had a users phone fighting with the printer for its IP, the loss of connectivity on running out of paper must have just been a coincidence. All sorted now :)

If you have the printer setup on static IP, that IP needs to be removed from the DHCP range so other devices don't try to get that IP. That goes for any static IP.

It has been now, the printer was set up on an IP that wasn't meant to be used, someone had set it up on one of the IP's set aside for DHCP and marked it down on our list as using an IP in our static range, its only just come to light now.
