So I'm probably getting an X4 845 and a GPU. The two choices that I'm thinking of is should I get the EVGA GeForce GT 740 or the Gigabyte Raedon R7 360. The 740 is ~$10 cheaper.

Are there any downsides of using an AMD CPU with an Nvidia GPU? Bottlenecking or anything else?

There are no inherent downsides from mixing brands, but I have to ask what the computer is meant for as these are all pretty low end cards. It should also be noted that the R7 360 is still a better card than the GT 740 in most situations, especially if the GT 740 is a DDR3 model.

Late. But, for future reference for other curious minds, the 845 wont handle anything past a GTX 950, 960 will slightly bottleneck depending on the game, but nothing horrendous. If you go with AMD, youve got the R370 and 380. The 380X or RX460 will also be held back slightly depending on the game
