I bought Sapphire RX 480 Nitro+ OC 8GB but my system+ CPU-Z show I have 4GB Graphic card. Can someone please help me?
I choose the option on bios: PCI-Express Shared memory=Automatic the other options=disabled but I still get 4gb ram.

windows 8.1 64bit, 8gb RAM DDR3, Asrock z68 pro3 Mainbord, i5 2500k 3.2 CPU
here is the proof: http://imgur.com/a/SBAIv

by the way I can't see anywhere RX 480 NITRO+ OC it shows only RX 480, maybe product mistake?

Solution
Nah I got a gtx 1070 right now and it is saying I have 16GB of shared memory.

If you feel there is something wrong with the card you can try to RMA it. There must be a reason it is displayed like that. It seems to be a common issue with the RX 480 8GB models. There is no reason CPU-Z should misreport the VRAM IMO. They must be using some weird trick to make the extra 4GB of VRAM work.

But yeah you can always just RMA or get something else. It is about the same as a GTX 970 or a GTX 1060. Haven't been keeping up with AMD since I switched to a Gsync monitor.

ok GPU-Z shows right memory which is 8GB but I had issues with 2 games(GTA EFLC and Batman Arkham City) they both show I have 3gb RAM o_O can you explain it? I couldn't choose the option high texture on Batman Arkham cause the game wanted me to get higher than 3GB Graphic card. I have 8GB Graphic card tho.... Is AMD kidding us?

I can't find any info about Arkham City. I do recall having issues with GTA IV and it was telling me the wrong VRAM when I had the R9 280 3GB.

I don't know why it would do that other than being just old games. You might be able to force settings by editing the config files.

What about newer games such as GTA V? Does it show the correct VRAM amount?

If you are comfortable with messing with the BIOS, check to see if there are any BIOS updates for your motherboard and do a reset. Make sure your onboard graphics is disabled. Not sure what else to try other than that.

GTA IV EFLC it was telling you have 3GB VRAM I used max 1.4 GB tho, the issue with Batman on the graphic settings like I need to get better/higher than 3GB graphic card to use "high textures" so I was forced to stay on medium!

Batman Arkham Knight is the new one, unfortunately I couldn't install GTA 5

GPU-Z shows 8GB ram but when I want to run it on games/system it tells I have 4gb memory.

I have a question do you have any amd graphic card on your PC right now? if yes can you look at your shared memory please? I mean right click>screen resolution>advanced settings

thanks for helping tho

I'm gonna swtich again to Geforce, I remember buying my geforce 560TI in 2011, I was able to play GTA 5 wtih medium settings . imagine after 5 years you can still play one of the top game. somehow I was effected by people who liked the idea DX12 und the future of AMD

It seems to be a nice trick . Buy a 8GB Graphic card use only 3gb of 8GB. no wonder that graphic costs 200 bucks
thank you a lot dude
