A few days ago I bought 3 sticks of 8gb Corsair Value Select 1600Mhz DDR3 ram. Problems i have been facing range from random BSODs (for various reasons) game crashes and Chrome's 'aw snap' errors.

I tested the rams and the dimms individually. No issues in normal use or memtest.
Tested 2 sticks in various combinations of dimms and modules. Everything fine. (both in single and dual channel)

So any ideas on what could be causing the issue with 3 sticks configuration? Should i add another ram stick and run 4 sticks in dual channel mode?

Specs:
Asrock z75pro3
Intel 2600k
Gigabyte 980ti
Windows 10 Enterprise x64
Also i noticed that even with 3 sticks the mobo will run them in dual channel mode

First of all, as LilDog suggested, you don't often see new RAM modules being sold in packs of 3. Where did you buy your 3 sticks of 8gb Corsair Value Select 1600Mhz DDR3 ram?

Since they most likely didn't come from the same original pack it isn't unusual to be seeing these kinds of errors.

Your motherboard only supports dual-channel, so even if you put in 4 RAM modules it will still be running in dual-channel. Mixing and matching RAM isn't recommended here on Tom's for precisely the reasons that you are now experiencing.

If you mixed in another RAM module there is a good chance the problem would only get worse.

In the short-term I would suggest keeping only two of the RAM modules in (as you said that appeared to be stable), and...

I have never seen anyone recommend an odd number of sticks because then you have 1 pair benefiting from dual channel mode and 1 stick all alone so I can't say for sure that it is the cause of the problem, but from your testing it seems that it is the case.
