Installing a new heatsink on an MSI 990FXA GD65

Hi all,
I've just acquired a new Phanteks PHTC12DX CPU cooler which I am preparing to install on my MSI 990FXA GD65 motherboard. I haven't actually tried to put it in yet but everything mostly seems to be in order and like it should fit - the one exception being that I have quite tall Corsair Vengeance RAM, and I think it might get in the way of the Phanteks push fan.

The RAM is about 57mm tall, and the clearance under the fans on the Phanteks is only 36mm according to the manual. I've not taken out the old cooler yet (My CPU is an FX8350 and I believe it is the stock cooler, incidentally), so I don't know for sure but it's definitely looking like things are going to be tight if they fit at all.

My question is this - is it going to be problematic to install the RAM in DIMM3 and DIMM4 rather than DIMM1 and DIMM2 on the motherboard (I'm using two sticks in dual channel at the moment, obviously), so that the RAM doesn't get in the way of the heatsink fan? I have checked my motherboard manual and it does say that DIMM1 should be populated first for successful start up, but I thought I'd see how hard and fast that was.

If I do have to populate DIMM1 first, I do have a single spare stick of Vengeance low profile RAM which I could put in DIMM1, but then what would the situation be for putting the other 2 sticks in? (they are all 8gb, incidentally). Is three sticks a wise or possible thing? Should I get a fourth stick of the vengeance LP if I wanted to do that? How much does any of this matter?

The final and probably easiest solution I am considering is either having the push fan on the cooler just sitting further along the heatsink to fit the RAM underneath it, as long as it will still fit in the case (probably would, although it might be a bit tight, again). Alternatively I suppose I could forgo the push fan altogether, and just have the pull fan on there, although ideally I'd like both.

What's my best solution here?

For reference here's the rest of the build:

Mobo: MSI 990FXA GD-65
CPU: AMD FX8350
CPU Cooler: Phanteks PHTC12DX
GPU: Palit Jetstream GTX1070
RAM: 2x 8gb DDR3 1600mhz Corsair Vengeance (CMZ16GX3M2A1600C10R), (possibly also 1x 8gb Vengeance LP)
Power Supply: Aerocool Integrator 600W
Case: Corsair 300R
SSD: 256gb some no-name brand, honestly I forget

1| Never mix and match ram kits, if you have the low profile Corsair kit, then use that and either sell or leave the spare kit for selling or as a spare part.

2| You're right, your motherboard manual, page 2-7, states that you'll need to populate DIMMS #1 and #2 in order for the system to operate. That being said, you will need two identical sticks of ram to evenly populate 2/4 of your memory slots. Although you can populate 3/4 slots, it'll just lead you to ripping your hair off your head when troubleshooting takes place for a system that used to work optimally.

3| Is there any possibility to return or sell the Phanteks cooler and pick up a Cryorig H7 or even an AIO 240mm cooler? The latter would help in dumping your heat away from the heatsource while it's mounted to the top of your chassis.
