Ive been reading reviews for several days about motherboards and its somewhat discouraging with all the mixed reviews. Let me start by giving the specs for my new rig, all of which are purchased (or being moved from my old rig) besides my motherboard and CPU.

Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro
PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G2
Ram: G.Skill 16gb 3200 mhz
CPU cooler: noctura D15S
SSD: Samsung 850 evo 500gb
Video Card: Nvidia Geforce GTX 960 2gb
CPU: i7 6700k

Now for the tough part... Ive been trying to stay away from mainly red boards(i know almost all "gaming" mobos are red..) but its not a DEALBREAKER. Red accents are fine like on the hero.

Ive been looking at:
Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD5
(read problems that you'll get a ram error if you dont bootup with 2133mhz ram to upgrade bios to enable XMP [would be a problem if true as i would have to reseat the cpu cooler after starup with slow ram] Would really appreciate if someone can debunk this)
ASUS ROG MAXIMUS VIII HERO reports of audio pops and alot of RMA's (although mainly people with bad experiences review products)
ASUS Z170-PRO

any prior experience or knowledge about any of these products would be appreciated and very helpful. Thank you.

edit: i also will receive a $30 credit for pairing the mobo with my cpu at microcenter, so i can go a little bit higher in price. Any other product recommendations are also appreciated.

the pro gaming board has a red scheme which im trying to avoid, but your saying you recommend the ASUS Z170-PRO though? I see in your sig that you've owned the Hero also. Any opinion?

Ahhhh! sad to read no red. lol I'm damn lover of red/black. I've used Hero VIII and no complaint found. Then I was on Formula VIII (You can change the LED colors ;) ) and I was in love with that board before pulling trigger on Rampage V Edition 10. Z 170 pro is also a good choice. You really can't go wrong on either unless you luck out on bad electronics.

The rig im on right now has a red scheme (gigabyte gaming 5 1150socket), so not exactly trying to do the exact same thing ya no. Thanks for your opinion on the Hero VIII, sadly the Forumla/Rampage are out of my price range.

And I did not recommend R5E10. :) If you can, go for Hero VIII. Best board out there in that price range otherwise I've heard goodies about Gigabyte Z170X-Gaming 7. You may have a look at it as well. Though again, it has red color on it along with white and it is a competitor to Hero VIII. Sound solution on Gigabyte is also good one ;)
